This week we have been studying Spiritual Warfare, and its not been like what I expected, much more theory and knowledge based. However this has been really great as there are some solid foundational truths to this subject that will help with anything I do in the future.
One of them was yieldedness.
What does it mean to be yielded to the Holy Spirit? How can we do it? Is it even necessary?
The speaker challenged us with two statements;
Everything God does, He does by His Spirit.
That Spirit usually works through yielded humans.
There are exceptions, such as certain talking donkeys, angels of death, and a few audible voice moments. But generally speaking we can assume that he works in partnership with us,
So logically then, if we want to see God move in our lives, or at all in the live of thsoe around us, we must be willing to yield to the Holy Spirit.
What does this look like then? Well, I guess for me, it means stepping out of my comfort zone. It means doing what God tells me to do. It means being so focussed on HIM, that I am willing to do whatever.
I realised as well during this time, that is why we lift our hands in worship, close our eyes in prayer, kneel down befor our Lord, and on it goes. When we do these physical acts of worship and service, we are yielding ourselves to the Spirit, by making ourselves more open to Him to flow through us.
The other night I saw two people miraculously healed, God has been showing me that it was because of a step of Faith. By myself seeing the need and just going and praying for them. Also through the people themselves, as I got them to move their arm or leg, or do things that they could not do before. When they first tried, they experienced pain, but as they moved it the healing flowed into them and they were restored.
I'm learning that usually there is some kind of physical act of submission of yielding to the Holy Spirit before we really begin to see Him flow. It could be as simple as kneeling, as moving forward and speaking a word, or it could mean even more crazy and extreme things.
If you are interested in hearing more let me know and i can send out some more detailed thoughts but for now this is what God is saying to me, and i hope that it helps you in some way!
As always, be blessed and may the peace of God rest upon you!
