Romans 8:38-39
I am convinced, that the love of God is the most powerful force in the world. I am convinced, and becoming more so everyday, that it is also one of the most misunderstood truths in our faith. Maybe misunderstood is the wrong word, maybe 'un-realised' is more fitting.
It is the framework that we find freedom, and it is the truth that allows us to have a relationship with our God. How many 'know' of the love of God for them, and yet never truly, deeply, and unexplainably know it. It is one thing for a friend to tell you that they love you, but you only truly know they love you when you see it, touch it and feel it.
How many problems could have been avoided, how many sins never been committed, how many addictions and bad relationships entered into because people did not know, of how much God loved them. Because they did not experience His love.
Many would say that to need to experience this is living without faith, and that it requires more faith to believe without actually feeling. That a Christianity based on feelings is a dangerous road to start on. I would agree, to base this of feelings is foolish, emotions change, from one day to the next sometimes. But to dismiss the fact that our God, wants to fill you with His love is to miss out on the greatest power in this world.
There is no coincidence that immediately before the passage Paul says that "we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." We are more than conquerors because of His love for us. it sets us free, His love brought him to the cross which is our salvation, but it is his love for us that sets us free from insecurity, unbelief, and fear.
There is a security in knowing the Father's love for you. You can freely walk into any situation with confidence, as you know that the opinions and actions of man cannot hurt you. We do not fear man any longer, we fear satan no longer as he can only hurt the body! He does not have the power to destroy both soul and body, only God has that power, and He loves us and says that He is preparing a place for us in heaven!
There is more to come, but for now, I encourage you to take the time to ask for that revelation. To rest in His presence and simply receive His words over your life. It makes all the difference.
Peace,
Daniel
