How often we sing words like this, in our songs,and prayers, and yet when the time comes.. are we truly willing to be shamed, humiliated and mocked and all that we are thrown into the mud?
My friend posted a blog the other day which you should check out, especially the last video, here;
http://donteattrash.com/2011/09/06/turning-our-theology-upside-down-by-doing/
It reminded me of my time in South America, ministering in areas that are so unimaginable in their poverty, and yet so vibrant in their faith. People willing to walk those filth covered streets and knock on every door so that they might know every neighbour, and love them as Jesus loves them. Barely having food to feed their family, but giving us their firstfruits, their heritage and all they have.
I came in there with hopes to change the world, and yes we did see amazing fruit, but along the way I will not forget how my perspectives did change, my view of church, of family and fellowship. Of ownership even was challenged. The video in the link reminded me of that, and it's always a good reminder to have.
Jesus came so that we might have life, and He did it in the only way possible, by becoming shame, becoming sin, and becoming the very least, so that others might be lifted up. As discples of Christ are we doing the same?
Convict me God, and show me how to live for your glory and not my own.
Peace,
Daniel
