And why is that? Why do so often we feel uncomfortable and threatened when others offer to help us work with us.. and even simply walk with us?
How often do we say “I don't need anyone, I'm good, I've got it all figured out.” Or "I'll be right".
Who are we fooling really, because if we think about it, the only person we generally are tricking, is ourselves.
Our society has latched onto the idea that individual equals strength, and that the more powerful we can be singularly, the better that we will be and the further that we will go in life. So we exclude, we condemn and we isolate ourselves from the very people that would give us strength and hope. That would encourage us and rebuke us. .
In reality, most of the world in ages past, and even most people in the world right now, understand the truth. That together, we can be so much more powerful, than alone. When they consider themselves, its as a part of family or clan. It is never me and me alone.
And we say well back then it was the only way to survive, times have changed, and we would be right. Times have changed, we no longer have to stick with others to survive. But to live? Ah there is something else, can we ever truly live, live in abundance, and to the full, in an isolated existence? Our physical needs are not the only needs that we have. And it is these other desires, wants craving and needs of ours that define our life, and define our joy.
When we choose so isolate ourselves into a dark room watching movies, playing video games, or even in the midst of a crowd, shut off from ever allowing anybody inside, that we start to break, and lose the very thing that could save us when we are in trouble.
Of course as a Christian this is even more so, the relationships between each other are so important, and built by God into our nature. We are not created to live alone, and get by through our own strength. He designed us to help each other, and love each other.
The greatest of this love comes only from God however. Our partnership with Him is what counts in the end.
This has been a theme of my writing for the past few weeks, and well, it's really the most important thing in life. Maybe from where I am standing anyway. Relationship with God.
Our partnership with God is flowing, back and forth, dynamic and diverse. This is the lifeblood of our existence. It is our hope and our joy, it is our strength and our passion. It is what separates us, from all else. Relationship with the creator, with the Father.
We are called to live in unity and partnership with our creator and then with each other, as one body, looking after each other in different ways, and advancing the kingdom of God in ways that working alone could not.
The phrase 'divide and conquer' is still applicable here as it ever was, it is a huge tool of the enemy, and for the most part it is successful. When we are divided, separated, and looking out for number 1... We fall.
And so, I need your help. I need your help as I undertake the biggest journey of my life. Leading an outreach of 6 missionary students across Christchurch NZ, and Fiji for the next 2 and a half months of my life.
I cannot do this massive task alone, but I know that together we can. Together we can see people saved, people healed and lives transformed. We can see revival brought to the shores of Fiji and Christchurch. We can see people's hope restored and life renewed.
Will you partner with me?
All it takes is a small donation by a few people to see all of that money disappear. Of course if you want to give more, I will encourage you in that as well. Please know that this is no holiday, in fact it's going to be very tough, we are here for a single purpose and that is to see the kingdom of God advance on foreign lands. This is how you know that your money is going to good use.
A lot of people say, God helps those who help themselves. You may even be one of them. The thing is, we can't help ourselves, and we aren't called to, we are called to help others. This is of God, the previous statement is from a guy called Benjamin Franklin. I am called to help others in missions, but this is a full time job. I need need people like yourselves to partner with me, so that together we can see fruit thousandfold of what we ever could working alone.
I have raised around a third of the outreach costs already, but I still need around $2,500 more, if you could help in this area, it would mean so much.
If you have any questions, please let me know, either through here or find out how to contact me here. For details on how to contribute, you can check out the donate page on the website.
Thank-you so much and may the peace of God be with you!
