I was transformed at a camp, and gave my life to God when I was 15. Little did I know that it's not just a good idea thought of by youth groups these days but actually created for the colonists in early america to gather for communion and bible preaching.
Needless to say, what started as a simple gathering of encouragement, turned into roughly 30,000 people experiencing one of the strongest moves of God until that time.
It is said that there was only an expected 500 people to come, but wagons ended up filling the equivalent of 4 city blocks. This doesn't even count the spreading of people around the area camping and staying in other towns to commute every day.
The state of Kentucky had an approximate 250,000 people at that time. This one meeting had over 10% of the state in attendance for revival.
The formula? Gather, pray, and wait for God to move. There was no strategy beyond this, they simply trusted that God wanted to meet these people, and to save them.
The same is true today, will you let God move you, bend you, transform you? Do you believe that He is able to do this? Do you believe that He desires to do this?
The heritage of the camp meeting is still going strong, let revival come.
Peace,
Daniel
